Working at a golf course I watch players toss golf balls across the tee box or toss up ball tee’s to detemine who get’s the tee box. Just curious the method behind this.

Tee- toss the tee in the air and whoever it points to tees off first.
Balls-one person gets a ball from each player in the group and tosses them all at the same time with one hand, whoevers ball rolls furthest tees off first

I don’t know if everyone does it this way, but here’s how my foursome does it:
One person, usually chosen at random, takes all four balls. Each should be marked by the individual it belongs to, obviously with alterations to balls that are same brand and marked similarly. The person then straddles one tee marker, with his back to the other marker. He then throws the balls behind his back, and the ball closest to the opposite marker has honors.
When we play Wolf, this is how we determine who is Wolf first, with honor’s being based on readiness.

Whoever the tee points nearest to is up first, many times the balls will be tossed to determine teams (2 closest are partners). So if they do both, then the order would be toss balls for teams and then the tee for order.

I’ve never seen the ball method, but the tee method that my friends and I use is to toss the tee in the air. Whoever the tee points at has the honor of teeing off first. Keep tossing the tee until all positions are assigned.
